How we got Started

BAREBAMBOO was founded in 2023 with a transformative vision of stopping deforestation, restoring degraded land, and creating sustainable rural livelihoods through the responsible development of bamboo resources. Recognising the immense potential of bamboo as a fast-growing, renewable resource, BAREBAMBOO aims to establish bamboo as a practical solution for environmental conservation, economic development, and sustainable industrial growth.

BAREBAMBOO is led by Mr. Kulkarni Santosh, a Chartered Accountant with over 13 years of experience in tribal development, community engagement, and grassroots initiatives. His professional expertise encompasses carbon credit mechanisms, strengthened through collaboration with the World Resources Institute (WRI), and ISO-related auditing practices. Combining financial expertise with a deep understanding of community-driven development, he is committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes. Under his leadership, BAREBAMBOO strives to integrate environmental sustainability with economic empowerment, fostering responsible bamboo-based entrepreneurship, restoring degraded landscapes, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural and tribal communities.

At the heart of this vision is the empowerment of rural and tribal communities. By promoting bamboo cultivation, establishing nurseries, developing value-added products, and supporting entrepreneurship, BAREBAMBOO aims to create employment opportunities and strengthen rural incomes. The organisation also seeks to connect traditional knowledge with modern research, technology, and industrial applications to unlock the full potential of bamboo.

BAREBAMBOO envisions a future where environmental protection and economic prosperity work together. By building sustainable bamboo value chains and encouraging community participation, the organisation strives to contribute to a greener India, revitalised landscapes, and resilient rural communities for generations to come.

Our mission

We aim to cultivate bamboo across 10,000 acres of land, growing different varieties available worldwide in a range of soil types found around the globe.

Our vision

We want to sustain the pride of bamboo, which often goes unrecognised, and celebrate its cultural, practical, and environmental value. We also want to teach this generation about the many ways bamboo can be grown, worked with, and used, helping to preserve traditional knowledge while inspiring new ideas. By creating opportunities and providing meaningful employment, we hope to support tribal communities, strengthen local livelihoods, and ensure that the skills and heritage associated with bamboo continue to thrive for generations to come.

Uses

Bamboo is not just a plant used for traditional products. It is a potential foundation for sustainable construction, rural industrialisation, environmental restoration, and entrepreneurship. By connecting cultivation, research, processing, and markets, BAREBAMBOO can help transform bamboo into a valuable resource for India's green economy.
